Pensby High School for Girls is extremely pleased to receive its best ever GCSE results this year.
Over 82% of pupils receiving 5 or more GCSEs grade A*- C marks a considerable improvement in results for a school that already achieves well above the national average at this level. These results are even more impressive given that 66% of pupils achieved 5 or more GCSEs at grade A* - C including Maths and English. Especially as this is the critical figure that the government and OFSTED use to judge the quality of education and school performance.
Headteacher Mrs Russell is very proud of the achievements made by all pupils, saying that “These exceptional results show that our school provides an extremely high quality of education for all our pupils. They are a testament to the hard work that pupils and staff have made in partnership with parents in order for these results to be achieved. This is a real highlight of the summer and we look forward to continuing success here at Pensby Girls.”
Mrs Russell added, “Being a consistently successful school, it is always difficult to keep on improving year-on-year but we have endeavoured to raise standards once again. We have excellent support systems in place meaning that every pupil gets specialist individual attention to achieve their full potential.
Our pastoral care and the support we offer to our girls has always been a real strength of the school as we realise that every child only has one chance, and we really want to make a difference and ensure that they don’t waste it.”
Over 1 in 6 pupils achieved at least 5 A*/A grades at GCSE and among some of the exceptional performances included 7 A*/A grades by Year 11 pupils Charlotte Brockbank, Fiona Quan and Charlotte Hill; 8 A*/A grades from Sarah Glover, Ella Watson and Eleanor Wright; 9 A*/A grades achieved by Amy Hanna and an amazing 10 A*/A grades by Rachel Skillen, who goes on to study her A’ Levels in Psychology, History, Chemistry and Biology at Pensby Sixth Form.
Even more promising has been the performance of Year 10 pupils who have taken their first modular GCSE exams this summer and all indications are that next year will be even more successful, proving indeed that “Happy Girls Achieve”.
