Movie-Making in Discovery CLC

In January a group of 16 Year 9 Geography students went to the Discovery CLC to use green screen to make a film about the Chinese earthquake of May 2008.

Girls listened to a talk about Plate Tectonics first using the Magic Planet digital video globe which showed what the Earth would look like if we drained away the oceans. It revealed the plate boundaries where most volcano and earthquake activity takes place.

Girls used the ICT suite to produce virtual sets, write scripts and add pictures to their news report. They then used green screen to film themselves making the report.

The final cut can be seen on the Year 9 folder of the Geography pages on our Learning Platform.
