The Sixth annual Wirral Schools' Film Festival took place on the 2nd July 2009 at Weatherhead High School. The Festival is a red carpet event and celebrates young people's film making and showcases exciting, unusual and innovative films which are the result of hard work and a passion for film making. This year the event premiered eighty two entries from twenty six schools and was attended by over two hundred film makers aged four to eighteen.
Lyn Papadopoulos, story liner and script writer (her credits include Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Coronation Street), the Mayor and Mayoress of Wirral all attended the awards ceremony.
Our brilliant young film-makers from Year 7 were presented with their own ‘mini-Oscar’ for their DVD called “Life @ Pensby” which aims to attract Year 6 pupils to our school in September.
Anna Lavin, Olivia Grace and Gena Aspinall-Martin went up to collect the award which was presented by the Mayor of Wirral.
Other members of the DVD team were: Connie Blakemore, Georgia Catherall, Roisin Gordon, Molly Halewood, Anna Brown and Emily Harvey.
his was a fabulous achievement for our pupils, made possible by the expertise of The Learning Lighthouse CLC.
